How the estimate works
Area drives most of the cost. The AI estimates square footage for lawn, beds, rock and hardscape, then linear feet for edging, drip line and walls, and counts trees, shrubs and sprinkler heads individually.
Tear-out matters as much as install. Existing sod, rock, plants and debris all have to come out and go somewhere, so removal and haul-off show as their own lines.
Slope, drainage and equipment access can change a bid dramatically — the estimate flags them instead of burying them. Landscapers on Servbo run this against their own rates.
